Building an awards program from the ground up
The Joyful Communications team have been involved with the biennial Queensland Mining Awards since their inception in 2014. As the public relations and communications ‘face’ of the Awards, our role is to make Queensland businesses aware of the opportunities linked with Award entries, streamline the judging process, and help to share the incredible stories of innovation that come out of Queensland’s mining industry. The challenge? To do this in a fresh way each time, from communications plan to execution and support.
Testing our versatility through writing in different formats
In any given Awards year, we’ll prepare, execute and publicise:
- A communications plan, from launch to Gala presentation
- Launch materials promoting categories and sponsorship
- Sponsorship prospectus
- Entrant materials and questions
- Judging materials
- Regular media releases and email marketing to drive entries and sponsorships
- Content for sponsors and partners to share
- Social media throughout the lead-up
- Finalist and winner promotional video scripts
- Gala presentation collateral
- Post-event media opportunities
If there’s a task in the Awards lead-up that requires writing, we’re on it! We love every part of this process, as it provides us with the opportunity to flex our muscles in different styles of writing and different formats, for the same audience (or in the case of sponsor and partner content, the same message for their specific audience!).
As the team who help to prepare the initial key messaging and comms plan, it’s such a pleasure to get to execute it all as well. And the results speak for themselves – sold-out events at capacity for the last 6 years, even through a global pandemic (when the Awards were held two months later than originally planned, but at the full permitted capacity and with a full cohort of entrants!).
Not sure where to start?
Or maybe you already have a project in mind! Let’s get straight to it – we’d love to talk about your plans and how we can help.
